Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is an iOS device?2022-03-29T14:21:38+00:00

An iOS (iPhone Operating System) device is designed by Apple. These devices include the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

Will the app only work on iOS devices?2022-03-29T14:22:13+00:00

Currently, yes. The VetSCOPE app is not yet compatible with Android devices. However, it is possible to use an iPad or iPod Touch and tether it to your Android phone.

How much will I have to pay for the hardware?2022-03-29T14:23:15+00:00

If you already have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch nothing as the App already works on these devices. However, we strongly recommend buying a waterproof and shockproof case that can cost as little as €50 to protect your device when you’re out of the office.

What costs do I incur if I lose my iPhone or it breaks?2022-04-05T10:41:39+00:00

There is no cost from VetSCOPE to load the App onto a new device. You will incur the replacement cost of the phone or device but insurance policies are available for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

What if I lose my phone/device? How secure is the data?2022-04-05T10:41:04+00:00

We recommend that you use safety features on your device, such as password protection and face or fingerprint ID, and configure it so that it can be traced remotely or wiped if lost.

Changes to data or records made on your device are uploaded to the VetSCOPE system when the information is synchronised. Client information can be easily downloaded to a new device if required.

Do I need any other hardware in order to use the app?2021-11-10T16:08:21+00:00

It is possible to attach a wireless printer, but sending prescriptions by email is far handier.

What do I need in order to use the VetSCOPE app?2022-03-29T14:25:47+00:00

Once VetSCOPE is installed the only additional hardware you need is an iOS device.

Will VetSCOPE supply the hardware?2022-03-29T14:26:21+00:00

VetSCOPE doesn’t supply the hardware. However, Apple products are widely available in electrical stores and online.

Can you print from it?2022-03-29T14:27:09+00:00

It is possible to print from an iOS device, however sending email prescriptions, pro-forma invoices and receipts directly to the client via email should eliminate the need for this. A mobile printer can be provided, if required.

How do I see the practice price list on the app?2022-03-29T14:28:13+00:00

The price list will be available on the VetSCOPE App and will be synchronised with VetSCOPE Office to ensure all pricing is correct and up-to-date.

Will you need more memory in the office computer?2022-03-29T14:28:49+00:00

It is unlikely that you will need any additional space on your computer unless the computer itself needs updating.

What happens if I receive a call on my iPhone while using the app?2022-03-29T14:29:34+00:00

The VetSCOPE App will automatically pause while you are taking a call and automatically resume when finished. Other parts of your phone may be accessed while using the App, such as browsing the internet, but once you return to the App it will be exactly as you left it.

Can I stop the phone from ringing while I’m using the App?2022-03-29T14:34:04+00:00

Yes, use the Do Not Disturb feature or Focus feature which can be switched on before you start.

“The VetSCOPE App is a real game changer in our practice. We can write and sign prescriptions in the field and all our work can be uploaded wirelessly to the main VetSCOPE system. Capturing our calls at source has eliminated undercharging and increased our turnover. The staff at VetSCOPE were very responsive to one of our farmers who wanted his prescriptions emailed showing the prescription number in the subject of the email and the name of the PDF. This request was turned around within days.”

Pat Devine, Lismore Vets, Lismore, Co. Waterford

“We’ve been using VetSCOPE for over 16 years now, in both our large animal and small animal practices in Strabane and Castlederg. As a cross-border practice we’ve found novel ways of using VetSCOPE to deal with VAT in the different jurisdictions. Having VetSCOPE has helped our practice grow considerably over the intervening years and when we purchased the Castlederg branch a number of years ago, the fact that they already had VetSCOPE was a bonus.”

Stuart Johnston, Parkview Veterinary Clinic, Strabane, Co. Tyrone

“During Covid-19, we were finding controlling appointment arrivals while maintaining social distance meant that we had to station someone in the car park. VetSCOPE was very quickly able to get us using an iPad so that we could see and make changes to our appointment calendar live from the car park. This eased considerable pressure elsewhere in the practice.”

Marie Clancy, Suirside Veterinary, Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary

“I am delighted to recommend both the VetSCOPE software and, almost as important, the VetSCOPE staff. We find that no matter how many questions we put to them, or how often we may ask the same question, they are patient, friendly and well informed.”

Donal Lynch, Slieve Bloom Veterinary, Tullamore, Co. Offaly

“We are a multi-branch practice based in Donegal supporting our large animal and small animal clients from three locations. We started using VetSCOPE in 2004. Through many changes in our practice over the intervening years, it has been the one constant. VetSCOPE has worked tirelessly to maintain our client records and deal with all our accounting queries – from VAT to the variety of reporting options. Over the years VetSCOPE software has continually evolved, providing us with updates to the software and offering new products and facilities that help our practice run smoothly.”

Nick Garvey, Old Church Veterinary Hospital, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal

“We are a mixed practice based in Newtownards Co. Down with 15 vets and 30 staff. We installed VetSCOPE in 2016, replacing a UK based software system. The changeover went very smoothly. We’ve found VetSCOPE to be a very comprehensive package and very easy to use. VetSCOPE were happy to develop their software to take into account the suggestions we made to meet our requirements. We now have ten large animal vets using the VetSCOPE App for entering their calls and writing prescriptions. The efficiency of this is essential to our practice and has made a noticeable difference to our bottom line. During the recent Covid-19 restrictions, VetSCOPE was very helpful in getting users to work remotely from home.”

Andy Mayne, Jubilee Veterinary Centre, Newtownards, Co. Down

“We’ve been using VetSCOPE since 2004 and were a paper-based practice before that. I can honestly say that VetSCOPE has been instrumental in growing our business and making our lives easier. It’s not just the software that makes the difference – the staff at VetSCOPE has been extremely helpful over the years. Having competent support available at the end of the phone line is something that should not be underestimated.”

John O’Mahony, Animal Care Hospital, Douglas, Co. Cork

“When I went out on my own, VetSCOPE was able to give me great advice on the computer hardware I needed – they even recommended an inverter for my Jeep. I’m now fully mobile with VetSCOPE and can print invoices, statements, prescriptions and labels, all on the go. The quality of the telephone support I receive has been excellent. They can talk me through using VetSCOPE step-by-step, remotely.”
